Kleiner Perkins Website Redesign

Challenge: Rebrand "The Yahoo! of Silicon Valley" to a modern aesthetic to entice the younger generation of entrepreneurs.

Insight: When meeting with VC firms, young startup CEOs need to quickly view who they're about to meet with and what types of similar startups KP has launched before.

Solution: Build an immersive UX-centric website that allows startup CEOs to digest the VC's client roster, get a glimpse of their VC partners, and read OP-EDs and articles written by the VC firm.

One of the most challenging aspects of this project was the photography. We initially sold the client on the idea that instead of showing the founders of the companies they invested in (like most other VC websites), we wanted to focus on the IDEA that KP was initially excited about. After all, that's where all the money is made, in investing in a bold idea destined to make history. However, sometimes ideas don't lend too easily to a tangible object to photograph. For example, the Nest thermostat is gorgeous, sleek, and begging to be shot in a studio. Citrix's relational database server system, however, is not. So we had to concept and then create tangible assets to photograph. The product list netted out at 37. It was quite a long shoot. Enjoy the products, shot by photographer Lupine Hammack, below.
